anna apricot // canis sum // i look like this
i'm an experimental folk musician, amateur visual artist, enjoyer of video editing, magnetic tape enthusiast, fan of the band animal collective, etc. my musical project is called voice arranger anna, i sing. my fursona is called catsabel, she's an an'gel.

when i was 12 bright eyes was my favorite band. i wanted to make music like that too. i thought i would never be able to sing. voice arranger anna started in 2021: i had a target cat keyboard that i found in the trunk of my step mother's car, a guitar that my dad gave me, a digital piano from my childhood, and a multitrack recorder. i made an ambient album. i got into the habit of writing down little scraps of lyrical ideas. they were horrible, but i tried. i realized i could kind of sing, so i did. i wrote and i sang and i did them poorly but i did them anyway. in the summer i was sad, i made my bed into a studio and recorded 'i love you and i mean it' with a cheap 4 track.

i went home and i was still sad. in the depths of an obsession with spencer radcliffe i made delectat, writing a song and then recording it as soon as i was done writing, on my 8 track this time. i got more instruments, i got better at singing, i got better at writing, i used a beautiful piece of art from the thrift store as a cover. it wasn't really that good, but it was surreal to have finally made something i could be proud of. after making it i felt a little better.

after that i started writing another album. by then i had decided that writing songs is just what i do, so i did. when i first listened to fevers and mirrors, when i was 11, the idea that different songs could have a seamless transition connecting them blew my mind, and i wanted to do that with my album, so i did. i wrote the whole thing first and recorded it in order. through an extensive series of miracles i ended up with an album that was far better written and recorded than i should have been able to make it. i named it cauliflower songs and i was so happy with it. i still think i did a pretty good job. maybe consider listening to it, if you haven't.

now i'm working on another one, about hexagons and weather and the friendships that hold my life together. here's a demo of a song from it, just for you ! <3
